The March 2010 general elections in Iraq did not produce conclusive results, and forming a coalition government has proven to be a long and difficult process. Meanwhile, security challenges in the country are highlighted as the United States prepares to withdraw its remaining combat troops by the end of the summer. A variety of political, security and other issues complicate relations between the central authorities in Baghdad and the Kurdistan Regional Government.
